Chocolate Artisan, Norman Love Receives the Cordon d’ Or – Gold Ribbon International Culinary Award, for the ‘Great Tastes’ Florida Product Award.

FORT MYERS, FL—April 30th, 2010—Chocolate Artisan, Norman Love Confections (NLC) announced today that its founder Norman Love is being bestowed one of the Cordon d’ Or – Gold Ribbon International  ‘Cookbooks & Culinary Arts’  Culinary Academy Awards today. The awards ceremony is being held in partnership with the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, Pinellas Chapter, in St. Pete Beach, Florida on April 30th, 2010. NLC is receiving the “Great Tastes” Florida Product award.

Noreen Kinney, president of the Cordon d’ Or – Gold Ribbon Culinary Academy Awards, was most impressed with Norman Love Confectioners and meeting Love too, who personally guided her through a tasting session of a selection of the delicious chocolates, while he spoke about his background in the business. 

“The new range of dark chocolates was especially of interest and it was difficult to choose a favorite from the several tasted,” Kinney says. “The quality was excellent, and Norman deserves to win the ‘Great Tastes’ – A Florida Product, Culinary Academy Award in the Florida – America’s Culinary Paradise Awards Program.”

To be among this impressive list of culinarians and culinary groups is an honor for Love.

“Receiving this award by the Culinary Academy is very gratifying and humbling,” Love explains. “To be honored in the Great Tastes category is especially gratifying since I pride myself in using only the finest and freshest ingredients to create our handcrafted chocolate confections that resonate with our diverse customer base.”

Love’s background in chocolate and pastries started when he studied the art of pastry making in France for two years and then led The Ritz-Carlton Corporation’s pastry kitchens around the world as corporate executive pastry chef for 13 years. He departed the Ritz-Carlton in 2001 when he started Norman Love Confections and he has been satisfying connoisseurs of fine chocolates ever since.

Continuing to be a prominent industry expert, Love has made numerous appearances on the Discovery Channel’s “Great Chefs” series and his desserts have graced the covers of Art Culinaire, Bakery Magazine and other prominent culinary publications. Chocolatier and Pastry Art and Design magazine named him one of the country’s top 10 pastry chefs in 1996 and 1997. He is also co-founder of the National Pastry Team Championship. Having been a part of the development of the Food Network Challenge Series programs, Love still appears as a regular guest judge.

Since founding Norman Love Confections, Norman has received tremendous national and international recognition. Most recently, Love was honored as one of the Top 10 Chocolatiers in North America was featured in the December 2009 issue of Dessert Professional Magazine.

A highly respected consumer rating publication recognized the company numerous times as the best chocolates in the nation. His chocolates have been lauded by the likes of USA Today, La Vie Claire, Robb Report and Entrepreneur magazines and the company was selected as one of the top 10 artisan chocolate companies in the country.
