Learn to bake, create chocolates with the experts at Norman Love Confections

Serving chocolates or baked goods from Norman Love Confections is always a crowd-pleaser, but imagine how impressed friends and family will be when you present a dessert you made yourself in the kitchens of the renowned chocolate and pastry company.

From March 25 through September 30, the artisan chocolatiers and pastry chefs of Norman Love Confections will share the secrets and techniques that make their creations among the best in the nation during a series of classes that will allow participants to enjoy hands-on learning while taking home recipes and delicious baked goods, chocolates and other sweet treats.

Class sizes are limited, so register early. Each class is $95 plus tax per person. Call Lisa Mariani at 239-561-7215 for class times, locations and availability. Following is the schedule of classes:

*Cookie Decorating: Learn the fun-filled art of cookie decorating at any of three themed classes, and take home all the elements to arrange the perfect gift. Dates: March 25 (Easter Eggs), April 29 (Mother’s Day Bouquet) and June 24 (Summer Fun)

*Easter Eggs: Cast, paint and assemble your own dark chocolate Easter egg sculpture and delicious Swiss milk chocolate truffles to fill it. Then the egg will be beautifully packaged so it’s ready to give as a gift or enjoy yourself. Date: April 1

*Cupcakes: Learn how to make custom cupcakes using rich batter and fluffy buttercream frosting, sampling along the way, and take home your almost-too-gorgeous-to-eat creations. Dates: April 1, June 10 and Aug. 19

*Molded Candies: The chocolatiers at Norman Love Confections will teach you how to make the jewel-like treasures for which they are so famous. You will go home with a bounty of sweet and beautiful candies you created yourself. Dates: April 22, May 27, June 10 and 24, July 8 and 22, Aug. 19 and Sept. 16

*Layered Cakes: Artisan bakers will demystify the process of layering and finishing classic cakes. Stack and finish your own cakes, and take home the finished products and recipes. Dates: April 22 and July 22

*Truffles: Discover why truffles are so revered as you learn how to craft three types of these elegant chocolates and bring the finished treasures home to enjoy. Dates: April 29 and Sept. 2

*Chocolate and Wine Tasting: Norman Love will host this delicious evening when participants will learn how to match wine and chocolate, as he describes the unique characteristics of the featured chocolates. Tastings will include pairings involving raw and finished forms of chocolate. Dates: May 13 and Sept. 30

*Quick Chocolate Bites: From small cakes to specialty cookies, learn a variety of techniques to make simple pastries and strengthen your baking skills so that you can create treats to dazzle family and friends. Dates: May 27 and Sept. 16

*Dessert Shooters: Explore the hottest trend in desserts. Learn to make individual layered desserts and classic verrines, including techniques to create a variety of texture and flavor combinations. Dates: July 8 and Sept. 2

*Around the World in Chocolate: Learn about the process of creating chocolate, from bean to confections, with Norman Love. Sample different types of chocolate from around the world and learn what affects the taste of the beans and how to create the desired flavors. Date: Aug. 5
